Abstract

Organization and content of the book

Who is interested in the future of the Mexican countryside? For a link between future and rural studies is a book written by Alberto Valdes Cobos (2018), published under the imprint of the University of Guanajuato and Colofón (Agricultural academic editions). Its content is organized into two parts: the first is called “social representations and metaphors of the future,” while the second refers to “future and rural studies in Mexico.” Both parts are characterized by good writing, with clear objectives and didactics and pedagogy that guide readers towards a comprehensive understanding, motivating them throughout its 221 pages. In each one of these parts the excellently documented information is systematized, always accompanied by a critical and theoretical apparatus that collects, analyzes and specifies the sources of documentary, bibliographic and statistical information in a rigorous manner, without leaving out any required reference, benefitting the reader.
