Checklist for preparing submissions

Manuscripts submitted for possible publication in Current Topics in Agronomic Science must meet the following requirements.

 

  1. The article is original and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  2. The article fully complies with the journal's current guidelines, and the subject matter is coherent with its scope.
  3. A cover letter with the institution’s letterhead is submitted together with the manuscript, which is handwritten by the corresponding author on behalf of all coauthors.
  4. Front page according to the Guide for authors.
  5. Length according to the Guide for authors:
  • Between 4,000 and 8,000 6,000 words for scientific articles.
  • Between 2,500 and 4,000 words for scientific notes.
  • Between 6,000 and 12,000 words for review articles.
  1. Times New Roman font, size 12, and 1.5 line spacing.
  2. Margins of 2.5 cm on all four sides.
  3. Page numbering in the lower right margin.
  4. Continuous line numbering along the left margin, except for tables and figures.
  5. Title with a maximum of 15 words.
  6. Names (scientific, active ingredients, among others) according to the Guide for authors.
  7. Abstract in Spanish and English, highlighting the most relevant aspects of the manuscript:
  • Extension of 250 words for scientific articles and reviews.
  • Extension of 150 words for scientific notes.
  1. Keywords according to subject matter and the Guide for authors.
  2. Tables created using the word processor's table editor, formatted according to the Guide for authors.
  3. Equations created using Word's equation editor.
  4. No equations have been inserted to display symbols or variables in the manuscript (use the insert symbol tool and apply italic formatting to variables).
  5. Images with a resolution of at least 300 ppi, minimum size of 945 x 945 pixels, in JPG or TIFF format.
  6. Figures, graphs, and flowcharts must be included as images, not as objects, as indicated in the Guide for Authors.
  7. Tables and figures must be self-explanatory.
  8. Figures must not duplicate the information presented in tables.
  9. Measurement units must follow the International System of Units.
  10. Provide the model, brand, and country of origin of the measurement equipment used.
  11. Provide the registration of the chemical reagent manufacturer.
  12. Consistency between the title, objectives, and conclusions, in accordance with the scope of the research.
  13. Objectives must clearly reflect what the research is about, how it is conducted, and its purpose.
  14. Objectives must be identical in both the abstract and the introduction.
  15. Detailed description of factors, treatments, experimental or sampling units, and statistical analysis.
  16. Detailed description of how response variables are recorded, including measurement units.
  17. Declared differences supported by appropriate statistical tests.
  18. The conclusions are drawn from the discussion and do not simply repeat the results.
  19. Conclusions limited to a maximum of 150 words.
  20. Avoid over-citation of a single idea: the individual contribution of each cited source must be indicated.
  21. References presented in APA 7 format.
  22. All references include a DOI or, if not available, the URL where they can be accessed.
  23. Cited references in the text are included in the reference list (and vice versa).
  24. No citations from theses, symposiums, congresses, seminars, school manuals, interviews, news articles, or research project reports.
  25. Current references: over 80% are less than 10 years old.
  26. No field codes in references (remove field codes). To do this, in the Word file, select all the content using the keys Ctrl + E; then, press Ctrl + 6 or Cmd + 6 to unlink all fields and remove hidden links.
  27. No text styles applied.
  28. Fluid writing, with paragraphs no longer than 10 lines.
