Abstract

Mango has a high commercial value, it is a leading product in terms of cultivated area and production value, both locally and nationally. Acapetahua has one of the best yields per hectare. The objective of this study was to analyze the Ataulfo mango production and its impact on the economic and social welfare of fruit growers, during the period 2010-2020. Informal meeting were held, structured questionnaires were applied, as well as quality interviews with key agents stakeholders and focus groups activities were carried out. The production link of the product system is directly affected by investment in technology and market demands, and this is linked to economic welfare since a 60 % profit was found during ten years of income and expenditure. Meanwhile, social welfare is covered mostly by the main services and satisfiers that producers enjoy at household level and in the community environment, although limited by the municipality’s own restrictive policies. Finally, the producers stated that they perceive welfare conditions up to 95 % satisfaction because they have what they need to live for their activity and for the region in which they interact.
