Resumen
Introducción. El estudio de los anillos de crecimiento de los árboles ha alcanzado gran relevancia, debido a su creciente aplicación para abordar ciencias como climatología, ecología, hidrología, vulcanología y geomorfología.
Objetivo. Realizar un análisis bibliométrico de los estudios sobre dendrocronología desarrollados en México, para proporcionar una visión general de las tendencias de investigación y áreas de oportunidad de esta ciencia.
Materiales y métodos. Se hizo una búsqueda de artículos en Web of Science, Scopus, Redalyc y Scielo, publicados durante el período 2000-2023. La información se analizó con el programa VOSviewer.
Resutados y discusión. Se encontraron 229 artículos que involucraron 76 especies arbóreas en 25 estados; Sinaloa, Tabasco, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Aguascalientes, Nayarit y Guerrero no cuentan con investigación dendrocronológica. Las especies más exploradas son Pinus hartwegii, Pseudotsuga menziesii y Abies religiosa. En los últimos 13 años, las publicaciones incrementaron exponencialmente (R2= 0.837); la mayoría tienen un enfoque dendroclimático (52 %), mientras que la dendrovulcanología, dendroarqueología y dendrohidrología han sido poco exploradas. Las revistas mexicanas publicaron solo 26 % de los artículos y las principales redes de colaboración están integradas por el Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias, la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y la Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango.
Conclusiones. Se identificaron pocos estudios con especies tropicales y latifoliadas, a pesar de tener potencial
dendrocronológico, y siete estados donde no se ha desarrollado investigación al respecto. La información generada
ofrece áreas de oportunidad para el desarrollo de trabajos en análisis de tasas de crecimiento, reconstrucciones
hidroclimáticas y estudios ecológicos para la conservación de especies.
