Abstract

The use of bioinoculants and natural inputs is a viable alternative in crop production. The purpose of the study was to compare 100 % of conventional synthetic fertilization (100N-40P-00K, control) with the effect of poultry manure, inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) Rhizophagus intraradices (mycorrhiza INIFAP) and 50 % of chemical fertilization alone or in combination on plant, culm, cabbage (Brassica oleracea var capitata, cv. Copenhagen Market) yield. In nursery, comparison of seedlings emergence was performed taking into account both types of seeds inoculated or not with AMF. In field, comparison of chlorophyll index, diameter of plant, diameter and weight of culms and yield were performed taking into account the different treatments. In addition, the benefit-cost of production was estimated for each treatment. Inoculation with AMF increased significantly by 19 % the emergence of seedlings in comparison with seedlings without AMF. In addition, the benefit-cost (b/c) was estimated for each treatment. Mycorrhizal inoculation significantly increased seedling emergence by 19% compared to uninoculated. Plant growth and yield showed no significant differences between treatments. Results showed the feasibility of restricting in 50 % or replace the conventional synthetic fertilization by poultry manure and arbuscular mycorrhiza in the production of cabbage. The best benefit-cost (b/c=4.7) corresponds to the inoculation with mycorrhizal in seedbed and 50 % of chemical fertilizer (50N-20P-00K)
